About Me.
My parents wanted me and my little brother to grow up in a safe
community with great schools and great opportunities. They found a small
lot in West Homewood on a quiet cul-de-sac and not only built a house for us,
but they also created a wonderful home. As a student at Homewood High
School, I made great friends from all across our city, many of whom I am still
lucky to call friends today.
For almost two decades as a military spouse, I raised my three children
all over the country, but I never forgot where I came from. Wherever we
lived—Maryland, Virginia (twice), North Carolina, Texas, Alaska, Florida—I
worked hard to support my family and create for them the same loving home
my parents had created for me. I found my passion in volunteering, raising
funds for my children’s schools, the local community, or to support the
thousands of Soldiers and their families in the units my husband served in as
a JAG officer. I leaned in, worked hard, learned how to lead large
organizations, and learned the importance of teamwork.
We moved back to Homewood in 2017. For the last eight years, I have
continued to serve my family and now Homewood. As a board member for
Homewood City Schools Foundation, I planned Homewood Grown from
2019 through 2025. I was involved in PTO at all levels for my children, and
recently was the high school PTO president. Also, I was a board member and
ultimately president of the Homewood Athletic Foundation, successfully
increasing funding for athletic achievement by helping to create the HAF
tailgate experience for our sports teams.
We all live here because we want our children to have a top-notch
education in a safe city that has a small-town feel where neighbors look after
each other. That is what I loved about Homewood growing up and that is
why we came back to Homewood to finish raising our kids here.
But in the last few years, Homewood has lost its sense of community.
We have retreated from each other. We have lost our connection.
I am running for City Council, Ward 1, because we need to get back to
our roots. Homewood is still a great city, but we have forgotten what it
means to be a good neighbor to one another. As West Homewood’s
representative, I will ensure we keep our schools top notch, I will keep West
Homewood’s burgeoning city center growing, but first and foremost, I pledge
to restore our sense of camaraderie, our small-town spirit, our community
spirit. We need to get back to what makes Homewood, home.
I am Tiffany McIntyre. I am Homewood grown. I am here to serve.
